How the 49ers earn the top seed in the NFC in Week 16

How the 49ers earn the top seed in the NFC in Week 16 It starts with an Eagles loss tonight San Francisco  It won’t be easy, but you have to face the Seahawks on Monday Night Football. Maybe a better way to look at it is that you have to fight the Philadelphia Eagles. The schedule has played out perfectly for the San Francisco 49ers over the past month. Multiple losses to the Eagles and Lions helped the Niners grab the No. 1 seed right away in Week 16. Starting tonight, the Eagles have to lose in Seattle. Considering Jalen Hurts has a questionable ailment and Philly just demoted their defensive coordinator, that’s not as far-fetched as it might seem. Now let’s move on to next week. The 49ers have to beat the Ravens. It goes without saying. Then the Detroit Lions, traveling to Minnesota, must lose to the Vikings. Both outcomes seem likely. The next two, however, not so much. The Niners need the Eagles to lose to the Giants and the Cowboys to lose to the Miami Dolphins to get the No. 1 seed heading into Christmas. Philadelphia plays four hours ahead of the Niners, but is a 10.5-point favorite over the struggling Tommy Cutlets. Frankly, a Dolphins win seems less likely. Dallas comes with a tick and should do whatever it takes against Miami because they dominate the offensive line on both sides of the ball. Can happen in the NFL and never say never. And while it’s within reach, we may have to wait another week or two for San Francisco to clinch first place in the NFC.
