At this point, there’s no denying that the 23-year-old has a real reason to be this season’s MVP. As unlikely as it may have seemed before the start of the year, the fact is that the Niners’ QB declared himself one of the favorites to win the coveted individual award. Henderson/Getty Images But Purdy, who went 16-of-25 for 242 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions in Sunday’s win, didn’t toot his own horn. In fact, if you ask him, the young QB strongly believes that his teammate Christian McCaffrey deserves this season’s MVP: “I think Christian should be the MVP,” Purdy said, per ESPN’s Nick Waggoner . “I really believe that. He does everything for us … and that’s why he’s the MVP in my eyes. At this point, the normal inviter prefers to stay out of the conversation: Ezoic “Thank God, I don’t have to resign,” Shanahan said. “But I’ve probably been around a few MVPs in my career and … that’s the most obvious one to me. I might be biased being on their team, but I don’t think so.” At the end of the day, though, you have to say McCaffrey’s inside lane is still Purdy.
