
Due to injuries that have sidelined two goalies, the Detroit Red Wings have signed goaltender Michael Hutchinson to a one-year, two-way deal for the remainder of the season.
Head coach Derek Lalonde reports that Alex Lyon will be sidelined until at least beyond Christmas, and Ville Husso will be out “week-to-week” with an injury.
Husso, who has started most of the Wings’ games this season, has played in 18 games and has a 3.53 goals-against average and a.893 save %.
Lyon has a 2.14 goals-against average, a.932 save percentage, and has started seven games for Detroit.
James Reimer is expected to be the starter while the other two deal with injuries. Reimer has appeared in nine games and has a 2.61 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.
Having played for the Grand Rapids Griffins this season, Hutchinson, 33, has a 5-7-1 record, 2.98 goals-against average, and.895 save percentage.
The previous season, he played for both the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
