Harry Thacker went over for their first try before Gabriel Oghre added a third late on. Newcastle were in touch in the 7-6 defeat but it took until the last game when Kiran McDonald finally got over the line for the hosts. The Bears completely dominated the opening 20 minutes, leading Thacker from close to the game and the first points.
