In keeping with tradition, let’s begin the new year with a recap of the New York Giants’ 2023 season finale, a 26-25 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. We’re celebrating our first “Kudos & Wet Willies” of the year.
Bravo to…
Wan’Dale Robinson After tearing his ACL in the previous season, the wide receiver in his second year appears to be totally recovered. He grabbed six catches for 55 yards and scored a touchdown on a reverse run of 24 yards.
Dane Belton: The second-year safety had his best performance as a professional by taking advantage of Jason Pinnock’s injury sustained in the first quarter. In the end, Belton recovered a fumble, intercepted two passes from Matthew Stafford—who had not been picked off in the preceding four games—and had two passes defensed.
Olszewski, Gunner I’m still baffled by Olszewski’s performance on his 94-yard punt return score. At around the 20-yard line, he essentially performed a Houdini act reminiscent of Eli Manning, giving the Giants an unexpected chance to win.
Olszewski has proven to be a valuable midseason addition to the Giants’ punt return unit.
Darius Slayton: Four receptions for 106 yards, including a touchdown pass from Tyrod Taylor that went 80 yards. Currently, Slayton has over 700 receiving yards for the fourth time in his five NFL seasons.
Bobby Okereke: The linebacker’s outstanding season hasn’t stopped. He had 10 tackles (one for loss), two quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks—his only ones of the season.

Pass protection: Six sacks were surrendered by the Giants. Without Taylor’s ability to flee, who spent the majority of the day on the run, they probably would have given up more.
Even Brian Daboll expressed his desire to have the second down draw play, in which Saquon Barkley lost two yards in the last minute, reversed. That was the second-and-10 draw play. Out of timeouts, it forced the Giants back from the 34 to the 36-yard line, which was too far for Mason Crosby, 39, to make the game-winning 54-yard field goal.
Jalin Hyatt: This would have been a “Kwillie” if the 47-yard reception he made had been counted. However, a Giants holding penalty canceled that. Hyatt officially had a drop and an odd fourth-and-1 grab in which he caught the ball behind the line of scrimmage after executing a drag route, leading to a downs turnover.

Tyrod Taylor If the term “Kwillie” is ever included in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a photo of Taylor has to be placed next to it. Or, at the very least, an account of Taylor’s Sunday game.
Taylor completed 27 of 41 throws for 319 yards passing. He completed a spectacular 80-yard touchdown pass. He completed 40 yards of running, including a 31-yard scamper that led to a field goal attempt that won the game.
Nevertheless, he erred on a pass that should have been a simple two-point convert to Saquon Barkley. On a fourth-and-1, he botched a center snap. He made a pass interference. He also missed a few more throws.
Taylor took numerous actions that would have contributed to the Giants’ victory. He also took a couple actions that made them lose. traditional “Kwillie”
Adoree’ Jackson: The seasoned cornerback recorded seven tackles, one forced fumble, and one pass defensed. In addition, he failed to make a tackle on Puka Nacua, resulting in an 80-yard play that led to a Los Angeles touchdown after a brief 3–4 completion.
Daniel Bellinger: This second-year tight end brought in 39 yards on four receptions. The good news is that. He was called for two holding penalties and a drop, one of which negated the 47-yard Hyatt reception.
