The Chiefs versus. Dolphins game in 2024 should be postponed because of the unsafe weather.

The Chiefs versus. Dolphins’ game in the first few weeks of 2024 will undoubtedly push the limits of safety. They made a bold statement just a few days after the NFL announced that the Buffalo Bills vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game in Kansas City would not be postponed due to the high snowfall in the Buffalo area. There is a significant risk even though there might not be a transportation issue for the Kansas City game.

There is a serious safety concern because of the predicted wind chill of -30 degrees Fahrenheit, the NFL may not want to postpone this game. Being attacked on the pitch will feel like being tackled on concrete because of the permafrost conditions. The state of the pitch will result in serious injury for the players. With all of the discussion surrounding turf’s impact on player injury rates, the icy conditions will worsen

Although that is concerning, frostbite that develops quickly at such low temperatures is also a serious risk. Although the league might benefit from it, the cold will be a huge catastrophe because first aid supplies would be needed for attendees, and NFL games are not known for their availability. Fans should be equipped with electric heating vests and as many layers as possible.

Since players and spectators will be exposed to hazardous conditions, there has already been significant pressure to shift the game time. People will get sick and injured in these settings, even though it could be beneficial to prevent rescheduling. In preparation for a pivotal playoff match, the NFL is undoubtedly taking a great deal of risk and accepting a great deal of accountability.
