Texas Longhorns Football is interested in Ben Yurosek, a graduate transfer. Their target is the former senior tight end for Stanford, who ESPN reports is expected to visit Austin shortly after visiting Georgia this past weekend.
Yurosek, who is 6-foot-5 and weighs 235 pounds, is one of the most talented and productive tight ends on the circuit, having caught 108 passes for 1,342 yards in his career.
Yurosek is a dynamic and experienced tight end who showed off his skills in 2021 and 2022, becoming one of the conference’s most productive and reliable tight ends in the PAC-12.
Yurosek led Stanford in receiving yards and receptions in 2021 and continued to rank in the top three in both in 2022.
Yurosek had an outstanding start to the 2023 season, racking up nearly 200 receiving yards on 13 receptions and one touchdown in the first two games. Sadly, injuries curtailed his output, causing him to feature in just six games in the second half of the season due to absences or reduced physical ability.
Having surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in 2021, Yurosek and former Utah Utes standout Dalton Kincaid as the only two tight ends in the Pacific-12 to have recorded over 100 catches combined. Considering that Kincaid was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Yurosek is in good company.
Yurosek, in the opinion of many, is a good fit for the Longhorns’ recent impact arrivals. Sarkisian and the Longhorns coaching staff have been actively searching the NCAA Transfer Portal for players ever after the team’s playoff defeat.
Isaiah Bond, a former star wide receiver for the Alabama Crimson Tide as a sophomore, has signed with Texas thus far. Hosting other key targets including Alabama junior linebacker Kendrick Blackshire and Oregon State Beavers redshirt junior wide receiver Silas Bolden.
The Longhorns intend to use the portal to obtain impact starters to meet certain needs. Following the 2023 campaign, Texas is in a better position than before to modernize, carefully select portal targets, and add standouts like graduate transfer Ben Yurosek to fill in the gaps.
