Things are looking better and better for the San Francisco 49ers with the Bye week.
After missing both the regular season finale and practice last week, star running back Christian McCaffrey made his way back to the pitch on Tuesday. McCaffrey was receiving care for a calf injury that was never thought to be serious. Because of their Bye week, the 49ers decided to take it cautious with him.
In addition to McCaffrey, another important starter for the 49ers kept working on his back. Arik Armstead was once again a limited participant during practice due to his foot/knee issue, which he has been battling with since late November. He had been absent from practice for the past month, but last week he was back on the pitch. The fact that he is just acting in part is irrelevant. For the 49ers, it is important that he is back and becoming better.
When the 49ers take on the Packers in the divisional playoff round, the club as a whole is actually working towards being totally healthy. For this game, not a single starter or important player will be sidelined. Three 49ers players were indeed excused from today’s practice. They were Clelin Ferrell (knee), Logan Ryan (groyne), and Dre Greenlaw (achilles).
Greenlaw and Ryan, on the other hand, have been practicing for the past week as a precaution. They ought to be all right, prepared for the Packers. The only negative is that Ferrell most likely won’t play against the Packers. With the exception of those three, the 49ers appear to be entirely fit for their playoff game on Saturday night.
The 49ers’ health has been a major issue in their playoff failure for many years, but it now appears that things may be turning around for the better.
