This offseason, the Texas Longhorns have been utilizing the college football transfer portal like crazy.
After going 12-2 and making it to the College Football Playoff, the Texas Longhorns lost a number of its outstanding players to the NFL Draft.
Fortunately for them, their achievements and the consistency of the coaching staff have made it possible for them to succeed in attracting talented players through the transfer site. In addition to acquiring two outstanding wide receivers in Houston’s Matthew Golden and, most recently, Alabama’s Isaiah Bond, they also acquired a highly sought-after pass rusher in UTSA’s Trey Moore.
In contrast to Bond, who registered on the transfer portal after Nick Saban retired, Blackshire was seeking a new beginning prior to the head coach’s resignation.
During his three seasons at Alabama, Blackshire mostly played on special teams, though he did occasionally play linebacker.
Although David Gbenda and brilliant five-star rookie Anthony Hill are back for the Longhorns, Blackshire will have a great chance to challenge for the starting job or at least see a lot of plays.
Blackshire received over thirty offers as a recruit and was rated as a four-star. He rejected offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Alabama in favor of Alabama.
Texas had the No. 2 overall class in the nation and the No. 28 transfer portal class before Blackshire was added, according to 247Sports.
