Throughout the playoff wild-card round, the Ravens have made the most of their bye week. This week, according to head coach John Harbaugh, “pretty optimistic about everybody,” including tight end Mark Andrews, who hasn’t played since Week 11.
“I believe he had his best performance to date today. “He made a significant progress,” Harbaugh informed the media. That’s optimistic, then. All we can do is wait and see.”
Following his fractured fibula and an ankle ligament damage sustained during Baltimore’s Week 11 victory over the Bengals, Andrews was placed on injured reserve. However, last Friday was his scheduled practice return date.
The three-time Pro Bowler only worked alone at the end of last week, but if he wants to participate in Saturday’s divisional-round game between the Ravens and the Texans, that’s definitely a step in the right direction.
The All-Pro tight end, who has 45 receptions for 544 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games this season, is definitely needed by the team.
NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year front-runner C.J. Stroud has led Houston to a scorching start. He passed for 274 yards and three touchdowns last weekend in the Texans’ victory over the Browns, who this season have given up the fewest passing yards per game (164.7) in the league.
With the fewest points allowed per game (16.5), Baltimore’s defense has also been exceptionally strong. Still, at this time, no defense seems safe against Stroud.
If available, Andrews might have a significant impact if the game goes into a shootout. Lamar Jackson, the quarterback, certainly hopes so.
It’s wonderful to observe. “One of our key players is back,” Jackson remarked. “All we want is that he continue to be ready and improve each day. We’re holding out for him.
Whether Jackson succeeds in regaining his most desired target this week is a matter of time. However, given that he is currently 1-3 in the playoffs, it would undoubtedly give him more confidence.
