Brock Purdy, the San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback, is determined to make a statement in his playoff return. He’s been on a journey since his last playoff game, when a major arm injury forced him to play handoffs in the NFC Championship Game.
However, as he prepares to face the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, he is keen to deliver a message.
Purdy shared his excitement about returning to the playoffs in an interview with 49ersWebzone.com via ProFootballTalk, particularly after a full year of game play. This stands in stark contrast to last year, when he was added to the roster midway through the season.
“So those were all on my plate last year, along with obviously trying to win every week and get this squad to the end. So, I believe this year is a bit different since I’m more familiar with the offence, who I am, and so on. But it’s good to go back and watch the games from last year to recall how it felt to play in a playoff game. It’s good. It’s huge for me as a quarterback to go back to those situations and try to recall what it’s like. So those are the things I’m banking on.”
Despite initial concerns that he would need a full year to recuperate from his injuries, Purdy made an incredible turnaround in time for the season’s opener. Throughout the season, he established his ability as a starter, finishing with an amazing record of 12 wins and 4 defeats, 4,280 passing yards, and 31 touchdowns.
While the 49ers hold home field advantage in the playoffs for the second straight year, previous events, such as the Green Bay Packers’ triumph against the Dallas Cowboys, have proved that home field advantage alone may not be enough.
