Kyle Shanahan appreciates the influence of unsung hero Kyle Juszczyk on the 49ers

Kyle Juszczyk has been with the San Francisco 49ers for as long as head coach Kyle Shanahan. The fullback was part of Shanahan and general manager John Lynch’s first free-agent class in 2017, and he is the lone remaining member of that group.

Shanahan recognised early on that he intended to use a fullback in his offence, despite other NFL teams abandoning the position. So the coach made certain Lynch and company pursued the greatest one in the NFL.

Fullbacks receive less acclaim than other famous attacking players because the position is not often associated with a multitude of statistics. However, the coach values Juszczyk’s contributions over the years and what the senior player continues to mean to the 49ers.

“Kyle is such a good football player, and I believe he is better at fullback now than when he came here,” Shanahan told reporters on Thursday. “And I believe when he arrived, he was the best fullback in the league. He has modified his body at times. Each offseason, he looks to make adjustments. Even as he gets older, he comes back eager to go.”

The 49ers now have more offensive playmakers than they did when Juszczyk first came. The fullback helped rebuild one of the league’s weakest rosters and has seen the squad gradually improve to become one of the finest in the NFL.

The 49ers now have weapons in Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk to complement early arrivals like Juszczyk and George Kittle.
