Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, has made a name for himself as one of the greatest in the game, but he is still lacking something crucial: a Super Bowl ring.
Jackson might have his greatest chance to win a championship this year.
With a 13-4 record this season, the Ravens finished first in the NFL and were granted a first-round bye. Down the stretch, Baltimore appeared utterly dominant, and Jackson most likely put an end to the MVP competition.
Jackson stressed this week how urgent it is for him and his team to win a Super Bowl right away.
“I recall entering the building alongside all of those guys.” It’s just Gus [Edwards], Mark [Andrews], and me now. We had a tonne of guys. Jackson stated, “It was amazing, man,” as reported by Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. “We’re not in the same locker room anymore; they’re all around the league right now. It’s absurd. I had to take a step back and acknowledge that, wow, I’m getting older. I have to win a championship right now. That’s one of the reasons I’m under so much pressure to succeed. It doesn’t get any younger. It’s preferable to prevail now.
Not only has Jackson failed to win a Super Bowl, but he has also had little luck in the postseason overall.
In just four playoff games, the 26-year-old has a meager 1-3 record. He has completed 55.9 percent of his passes for 900 yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions, and his passer rating is 68.3.
Lamar Jackson and company were in a predicament a lot like this one four years ago. With a 14-2 record in 2019, Baltimore had the best record in the league. It received a bye in the first round of the playoffs, but lost to the Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round.
When the Ravens play the Houston Texans this Saturday, they want to escape the same fate.
