Two Eagles veterans plan to rejoin the squad in 2024

After the heartbreaking playoff loss on Monday night, we found out that at least one Eagles player was retiring. Luckily for the organisation, two seasoned members made it apparent that they intended to stay until 2024.

According to Zach Berman of PHLY, offensive lineman Lane Johnson and defensive end Brandon Graham told reporters that they plan to play next season.

It was uncertain whether 2023 would mark Graham’s last season in the NFL after he had spent the previous 14 years in Philadelphia. The 35-year-old concluded the season with 16 tackles, three sacks, and six quarterback hits, despite not even coming close to matching his 11-sack performance from 2022.

Pro Football Focus ranked Graham 17th out of 118 qualifying edge defenders, even though the counting numbers were down.

Graham seems to plan to stay with the Eagles for at least one more season since he has continued to re-sign with them on short-term contracts.

In 2023, Johnson was selected for the third time in a row as an All-Pro, and for the first time since the 2015 campaign, he was able to play in 16 games. Johnson finished the 2023 season as the 33rd-oldest offensive tackle in the field of 83 qualified tackles, according to Pro Football Focus.

It appears that Johnson may stay in the NFL for a few more years, even though Graham just alluded to one more season.

Johnson stated, “I want to end my career strong” (via Berman). “I’m going to make the most of the few good years I have left,”

Centre Jason Kelce announced on Tuesday morning that he was going pro. Longtime Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox may not be back for the 2024 season, as Berman points out.
