49ers’ Brock Purdy Takes No Holds in the NFC Championship Game

Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers faced the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game last winter, but Purdy was sidelined by an elbow injury.

Backup Josh Johnson was sidelined by a concussion, but Purdy continued to play, though he only completed two of his four passes in the game.

The 49ers did not have the best outcome as the Eagles easily defeated them.

Purdy and company will get another shot, though, when they play the Detroit Lions on Sunday, with a Super Bowl berth up for grabs.

It’s safe to assume Purdy is thrilled to have another chance.

“That was last year. Purdy told Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, “It sucked.” We all believed that together, we could complete the task. We were not given the chance. We’re back now. This year has flown by. We’re all thrilled about this chance. We weren’t attempting to plan too far ahead of time. We were aware that the game against Green Bay would be exciting. It was really impressive to be able to persevere to that point. We can now concentrate on the NFC title.

Purdy continued, saying that he is “drooling over this opportunity” with his team.

This past weekend, San Francisco defeated the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round. In the victory, Purdy completed 23 of 39 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown.

The 24-year-old completed 69.4 percent of his passes for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions during the course of the season. He also posted a league-high passer rating of 113.

This year, Brock Purdy and the Niners finished 12-5 and were awarded a first-round bye.
