According to the NFL transaction wire, the San Francisco 49ers have opened a practice window for defensive tackle Kalia Davis by changing his injury status to “reserve/injured; designated to return.”
Davis was placed on the injured reserve list on December 20 with a high ankle sprain. While practice windows generally allow 21 days to activate a player off the injured reserve list, Super Bowl 58 is scheduled in 18 days.
It’s also possible that the 49ers will activate Davis ahead of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Detroit Lions.
In the 2022 NFL Draft, San Francisco selected Davis (6-2, 310) in the sixth round (No. 220 overall) from UCF. He has a tackle, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hit, and a sack in three games this season, according to Pro Football Reference.
Davis, 25, did not participate during his first season after being placed on the reserve/non-football injury list on August 23, 2022.
