The San Francisco 49ers have advanced to the NFC Championship Game for the second consecutive season. They are expecting for more success this time around, after their chances of advancing were shattered by the Philadelphia Eagles, who injured all of their active quarterbacks during the game.
One of these quarterbacks was Brock Purdy. Purdy, the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has enjoyed one of the best starts in league history. However, for some reason, what he has accomplished has been rejected by others.
Purdy found himself in a great circumstance, playing under head coach Kyle Shanahan, an offensive genius, and surrounded by All-Pros. However, the quarterback must still make the plays, and Purdy has thus far responded whenever his number is called.
Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk believes that the criticism of Purdy should stop. His teammate wide receiver, Deebo Samuel, recently defended their quarterback, and Auyik has now done the same on social media.
“You need to switch off the DS’n and turn on the cassette! “That’s everyone,” Aiyuk stated on his Instagram story. “Everybody.” (H/t Heavy)
Purdy has been the victim of numerous trolls on social media, but he continues to prove them wrong. While he did not have his greatest game against the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round, he helped lead the team to a 24-21 win.
The 49ers and Purdy will now host the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game. There will be numerous narratives putting Mr. Irrelevant against a former No. 1 choice, Jared Goff, who was taken first overall in 2016.
The sole difference between Purdy and Goff is their draft position. Both have performed admirably this season, helping their clubs get to the Super Bowl. Sunday’s game between the Lions and 49ers should be a spectacular one, and whoever wins will have earned the right to contend for the Lombardi Trophy.
