klye Shanahan plans to retire next season

Don’t be fooled by his mediocre head coaching record; Raheem Morris was more than ready to return to the NFL as head coach.

The Atlanta Falcons agreed and chose him over Bill Belichick to oversee their future project, and many league leaders appear to be pleased with the decision.

Back in 2022, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin declared that Morris was the top coach in the NFL who did not hold a head coaching position.

San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan appears to agree (via ProFootballTalk).

“It’s way past due,” Shanahan remarked. “Raheem’s one of the best coaches I’ve been with.”

Speaking of Morris’ new role, Shanahan stated that it was long overdue and that it was about time Morris had another opportunity to coach a club.
Morris took over as interim coach after Jon Gruden was fired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before being hired full-time for the next three seasons.

He’s gained valuable experience on both sides of the field since then, thriving as the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator prior to this opportunity.

He is now back in the NFC South division.

The Falcons aim to establish a long-term project, which could explain why Belichick was passed up, as he was only expected to coach for a few years before retiring.

While they have yet to resolve their quarterback dilemma, they do have the personnel to play at a high level in that division, and supporters should be very enthused about this new era.
