The Eagles have officially hired Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Saturday that Vic Fangio has been named as their next defensive coordinator.

Fangio, 65, began his NFL coaching career in 1986 as the Saints’ linebackers coach. Since then, he has established himself as one of the league’s top defensive coordinators.

He previously worked with the Panthers, Colts, Texans, Ravens, and 49ers before joining the Bears as defensive coordinator in 2015. The Broncos hired Fangio as head coach in 2019, but he was dismissed and chose to sit out the 2022 season rather than become a defensive coordinator.

After meeting with the Eagles, Fangio agreed on with the Dolphins as defensive coordinator in 2023.

Fangio had a 19-30 (38.8 percent) record in Denver over three seasons, with no postseason appearances.
