The Los Angeles Rams surprised many with their impressive recovery in 2023, considering their 2022 season was significantly impacted by injuries and other circumstances.
Despite facing injuries and other unfavorable circumstances in the 2022 season, the Los Angeles Rams pleasantly surprised many with their remarkable bounce back in 2023.
According to PFF, it wasn’t until the sixth week of his second year in the league that Lake established himself as a reliable contributor on the Rams defense. While he initially struggled as a starter, he gradually improved and earned more playing time. By the end of the season, Lake had an impressive overall PFF grade of 70.0, a run-defense grade of 77.2, and a coverage grade of 66.6, which included the playoffs. Based on his performance, there is a possibility that he could secure the starting job for 2024.
Lake, a sixth-round selection from UCLA in 2022, faced a considerable delay in making his way onto the field. It wasn’t until Week 9 of this season that he secured his first start. Despite his gradual progression, Lake is still in the process of fully cementing himself in the starting role.
In his first two seasons, Lake has made 63 tackles and defended seven passes. Additionally, his underlying statistics are impressive, indicating that he may have a greater role in 2024 if he continues to perform at this level.
