Eagles “Much Too Soon” Super Bowl Rivals Following Modifications

Super Bowl LVIII is almost coming, and for many NFL fans whose teams didn’t make it, Sunday will be bittersweet. This features the Philadelphia Eagles, who finished an embarrassing late-season run with a 32-9 Wild Card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after failing to defend their NFC title.

While quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs hopes to defeat San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy’s team to win back-to-back Super Bowl LVIII titles in Las Vegas, Sports Illustrated has chosen to focus on the top 10 non-championship teams that have the best chance of making it to the Super Bowl the following season.

“The Eagles were a disaster down the stretch for multiple reasons, including poor coaching from Nick Sirianni & Co,” reports Sports Illustrated. “However, Sirianni is probably coming back in ’24, hopefully winning another Super Bowl and bringing in a new coaching staff. (He also deserves some leeway because, compared to what the Cowboys have accomplished recently, he led his team to three straight postseason trips and an NFC championship.

To improve their defense, which finished last in the NFL in 2023, the Eagles hired Vic Fangio as their defensive coordinator. Philadelphia also brought in former Chargers and Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to manage the offense and call plays. Both appointments are regarded as “home runs” by many because Moore is a talented young player and Fangio is a seasoned player who has shown he can win games for teams.

“With Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown, the Eagles should be fine offensively,” according to SI. “But their defensive problems are numerous, particularly at linebacker and in the secondary. Additionally, if center Jason Kelce decides to retire, the Eagles may lose their ability to use the Tush Push.
