Mike Sherman was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers for six seasons (2000-2005). He had a record of 57-39 during that time.
He was an offensive assistant with the Houston Texans when his daughter started dating Zac Taylor.

In a December 2018 interview with Sports Illustrated, Taylor described his first meeting with Sherman:
“I remember the first time I saw him. We practiced on our football field in Nebraska. When the rehearsals were over, there was a girl in a yellow dress.
He looked much more mature, I thought he was probably in his 30s.
I am only 22. As the year progressed, I found out that we are the same age. I hit him more often and realized that maybe I have an opportunity.
Giving his side of the story, Sherman said,”Ever since I met him, I just admired how he used to be the last person on Fan Day.
He was the starting quarterback, but he signed every kid. I just stalked him until he asked me out. Fortunately, he did.”.
