InPittsburgh, it is defined by two simple words.Cameron Heyward.For the second year in a row, Heyward spread Kindness in the Pittsburgh community and gave as part of
Cams Kindness Weekand#039; Through the Heyward House Foundation.This is an opportunity for him to show love to those who may need some, to give guidance to those who seek it, and to lift up those who need a boost.andquot;I got it last year and wanted to do it again, Heyward said.
I had the opportunity to go around Pittsburgh and look for different ways to give back.
Heywardjoked that last year he ran out of ice before the end of the week, but that was far from the truth.andquot;I was just a grumpy old man then,he said with a smile.He was not sick either last year or this year when he left to share kindness.
Heywardwas honored as the NFLPA Community Week 8 MVP for his efforts this week. The NFLPA donates $10,000 to a charity of their choice and is eligible to
receive the prestigious NFLPA Alan Page Community Award, which is determined in January by a vote of season and number 039 major league players; Out of 18 Community MVPs.
The winner will receive an additional $100,000 charitable donation from the NFLPA.
Ireally enjoy giving back to the community and it just highlights everything my foundation is doing, everything my teammates are trying to promote, Heyward said.
It is a celebration of giving back to our community.

I can do things outside of this week, but we can put an exclamation point on the year and what we accomplished.
Heywardis focused on his role as a mentor not only in the Steelers locker room, but throughout the community going into this year’s events.
Earlier this season, Heyward won the Ambassador Daniel M. Rooney Mentoring Champion Award, presented by the Mentoring Partnership.
Forme, it’s about trying to make an impact in my community andquot; Heyward said.
We empower the youth and connect through this platform. I’m lucky to play for an organization that makes that possible.andquot;So many kids are just looking for a companion and people to connect with.
We may not have the same background, but I want to be a lawyer, I still want to give back. I want to make sure they understand there are choices out there.
Heywardhas had his share of mentors in his life, from family to coaches to teammates, and he welcomes the opportunity to take on that role.
Ihave had so many mentors and role models in my life to learn from,andquot; Heyward said.
They came in unexpected and expected ways. Be my soccer coach, friends, and fathers who were coaches along the way. My mother, father, grandparents. Sometimes even older teammates who get a chance to pick their brains. I’ve had mentors on this team in the past, whether it’s Brett Keisel or Troy Polamalu.
Guys I always looked up to, I saw their work ethic and how they cared about their community. Seeing how mom fought for us and took care of us. My father takes off his tail.
Over the years, I feel like I’ve had mentors and role models in so many different ways.andquot;When I learned from them, I did not know that I was learning.
But I just want to offer these ways to empower people to help kids recover from whatever they’re going

Openinganother Craigand cabinet.Heyward launched Craigs Closet in 2018 in honor of his father, the late Craig Ironhead Heyward, who died of brain cancer at age 39.
Heyward played football at the University of Pittsburgh, and when he arrived as a freshman, he had only one suit to thank for, at least from a single parent. at home with six siblings.
Whenso many young men in Pittsburgh faced the same challenge of not having a suit to wear to job interviews, practices, events and more, Heyward came up with a plan.
Craigs Closet offers free clothing items to help young men get ahead in life.
Meand my brothers, we always try to honor our father and we know that we are all blessed beyond that,andquot; Heyward said. andquot;It is our task to honor and extend that heritage, because through it we can only be better men.
Heywardattended the ribbon cutting for Brashear High School’s newest location. Craigs Closet Craigs Closet offers high school young men free dress clothes for interviews, practices, parties and more to help them achieve their goals and move forward in life.
We were able to give back to some high schools and we grow only by offering costumes for young men, such as ties, shoes and Heyward said.
I love hearing stories about how they feel behind it. When they feel they look good, they feel good and that makes them want to play well or go out and face the world.
It’s how you provide tools in their toolbox and give them the opportunity to succeed at a high level.andquot;This is the last batch together.
