Golden State Warriors guard Lester Quinones has earned a permanent spot in the 2023-2024 NBA season after impressing in a recent game.

After playing 19 games this season, the Warriors plan to upgrade the 23-year-old’s two-way contract to a full NBA contract, his agents Mike Miller and Derek Malloy of LIFT Sports Management announced, as reported by ESPN. Adrian Wojnarowski.

Quinones averaged 4.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 12.9 minutes per game in those games.

The move to a regular contract comes because two-way players are limited to 50 games, indicating that the Warriors are happy with Quiñones’ performance and want to secure his services more permanently.

Securing Kinone fills the Warriors’ 14th guaranteed spot, indicating that the team’s likelihood of exploring the buyout market has diminished.

While the move doesn’t rule out the possibility of Golden State adding another player, it suggests they keep their 15th roster spot open until the end of the regular season, allowing flexibility for potential additions for a playoff push.

Quinones, who went undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft, joined the Warriors later that year.

After starting this season on a two-way contract, his move to a regular contract underscores his value as an important bench player for the team under coach Steve Kerr, especially as the season approaches.
