Tiger Woods stands out here in one particular way, says my colleague.
For tour pros who happened to play with Tiger Woods in his prime, this opportunity was both a blessing and a curse: a blessing in the sense that they got an inside look to the best of their generation to the player and the curse, well, for the same reason.
Geoff Ogilvy was among that lucky group. The 46-year-old Australian tied for a career-best No. 3 in 2008, Woods’ longest run at the top (Woods spent 281 weeks at No. 1 between 2005 and 2010).
“You’re not going to beat him. Nobody beat him,” Ogilvy said of Woods in this week’s Underpar.
“He was special.”And one particular quality made Woods special, Ogilvy told Underpar hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz: At best, Woods had a different clutch gene than others.

“He was a genius who finished 72 holes ahead of everyone,” he said.
“I mean Thursday, Friday, he was pretty quiet and you talked, it was like a normal Thursday, Friday with someone else.
On Saturday he would be a little more serious and on Sunday you wouldn’t be able to talk to him. He would just not make eye contact with anybody.”He was almost meditating,” continued Ogilvy.
“You know, he just walked very slowly, without measure, and only knew how to finish in front of everybody.
otherwise. He was just better at it than everyone else.”Even with Ogilvy realizing that Woods was a unique talent, watch the full episode below..
