Jon Rahm: Tiger Woods Not Responding To My Texts About LIV Move
Jon Rahm told ESPN that while Rory McIlroy supported Tiger Woods’ decision to join LIV Golf, he has yet to respond to attempts to explain his jump from the PGA.
A tour of the competition course Rahm, 29. Currently ranked 3rd in the world, has joined LIV Golf on a $500 million deal in December.”I mean, Tiger, I sent him and the people trying to go through the process when I signed and just told him, ‘Hey, you know, it’s personal a decision I have nothing against anybody,” Rahm said in a recent interview with ESPN’s Marty Smith.
Rahm, the 2021 US Open and 2023 Masters champion, is in Saudi Arabia this week for the LIV Golf Invitational in Jeddah, which starts on Friday.
“This is a new change. A big change,” Rahm told ESPN. “I don’t want to miss this point: a big change in how golfers are compensated.
I’d be lying if I said it didn’t matter. In short, I can do more of the same sport and have more time.
I don’t know about most people, but that sounds great to me.”Woods apparently dreamed of Rahm, but LIV Golf’s Legion XIII captain said world No. 1 Rory McIlroy responded positively.
“Rory supports my decision publicly and he supports it privately,” Rahm said.
Rahm finished third in the season opener at LIV Golfo Mayakoba (Feb. 2-4) and tied for eighth in Las Vegas (8-10- a of February).
