Blake Bryce Makes Public Pledge to Cougars

The son of a former Cougar player was the second recruit the BYU football program took on Saturday as part of their 2025 recruiting class.

The tight end from Newbury Park, California, Blake Bryce, made his commitment to BYU public on social media. In the early 2000s, his father Gary was a player for the Cougars.

Bryce, who is 6-foot-5 and 228 pounds according to 247 Sports, received a few scholarship offers in late 2022 and early 2023, including one from BYU in January 2023โ€”the Cougars were the third team to extend an offer to him, following Louisville and Colorado State. However, over the past few weeks, his recruitment has really accelerated.

Since the beginning of February, Bryce has reportedly gotten nine offers, seven of which have come from universities in strong conferences, according to 247 Sports.

247 rates Bryce as a 3-star prospect. He has committed to BYU for 2025, joining Weber High linebacker Tyler Payne, the son of former Cougar kicker Matt Payne.
