This season, a few guys on Baltimore’s rugged, ground-heavy offense will be extremely difficult to contain.
One of them is tight end Mark Andrews, who was highlighted in a video that went viral shortly after the hip-drop restriction was announced. When the ball is in his hands, Andrews is an incredible force, and it will be difficult to take him down from behind without a hip drop. Even though quarterback Lamar Jackson doesn’t have as large of a frame, he just outpaces opponents so frequently that this traditional tackle-from-behind technique proved crucial in taking him out. Finally, it will be more difficult than ever to stop Derrick Henry, the iconic big-body runner of this age, now that he is a Raven.
Baltimore’s defense, like San Francisco’s, is frequently commended for its excellent coaching and principles. Even with the new regulations, this defense, with stars like Roquan Smith and Kyle Hamilton, should have no trouble getting stops with beautiful and clean tackles.
