Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery is frustrated with his team’s inconsistent performance and lack of effort observed in the last two games.
During Monday’s practice session before their upcoming game against the Florida Panthers, Montgomery openly expressed his dissatisfaction with his players’ performance. The recent 3-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers seemed to particularly irk the coach, prompting him to address the team’s shortcomings directly on the ice.
Montgomery’s intensity was palpable as he urged his players to “wake up” and led them through rigorous drills, accompanied by a flurry of expletives and instructions.
Following the practice session, Montgomery explained his behavior to the media, acknowledging the team’s subpar performance and his responsibility as a coach to address it. He emphasized the importance of attention to detail and game management, admitting his own shortcomings in preparing the team for practice that day.
In essence, Montgomery’s outburst stemmed from a desire to motivate his team and instill a sense of urgency and accountability as they strive for better results on the ice.
