Boston Bruins sign Riley Duran to two-year, entry-level contract

Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney declared on Sunday that the team has inked forward Riley Duran to a two-year entry-level deal starting in the 2024-25 season. As per CapFriendly, the contract is slated to carry a cap hit of $867,500.

 

Duran will join the Providence Bruins, the Bruins’ AHL affiliate, on an amateur tryout contract (ATO).

 

Hailing from Woburn, Massachusetts, Duran spent the 2023-24 season in the NCAA with the Providence College Friars, where he notched nine goals and seven assists, totaling 16 points in 35 games. This marked Duran’s third season with the Friars, accumulating 27 goals and 28 assists for 55 points across 102 NCAA games.

 

Duran was initially picked by the Bruins at No. 182 overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. During that season, Duran played for Lawrence Academy, leading the team with 22 goals and 44 points in 27 games.

 

The subsequent season, the 6-foot-2, 181-pound forward chose to compete for the Youngstown Phantoms in the United States Hockey League (USHL) during his gap year before joining Providence.

 

While with the Phantoms, Duran recorded eight goals, 11 assists, totaling 19 points in 47 games, along with 32 penalty minutes.
