MUST READ: Boston Red Sox Opening Day Notes

The Boston Red Sox launched their 2024 season on the West Coast with a triumphant 6-4 victory against the Seattle Mariners, securing an initial 1-0 record.

The team is slated to play their first ten games of the season in the same region, facing off against the Mariners for four games, followed by three games against the Oakland A’s, and then another three games against the Los Angeles Angels. They will then return home for their Home Opener against the Baltimore Orioles on April 9th.

Key highlights from the season opener include Brayan Bello’s standout performance. Bello, who recently signed a six-year, $55 million contract extension with the Red Sox, made history as the youngest Opening Day starter since 1995. Despite facing some unfavorable calls from home plate umpire Larry Vanover, Bello delivered a solid five-inning outing, allowing two runs on five hits without issuing a walk and striking out two.

The Boston bullpen showcased its strength, combining for four innings of work, conceding two runs on three hits while striking out seven and issuing only one walk. Isaiah Campbell and Joely Rodriguez faced some challenges, but back-end relievers Chris Martin and Kenley Jansen ensured a successful finish, with Jansen securing his first save of the season.
