The Baltimore Ravens initially aimed to re-sign standout pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney early in the free agency period. However, Clowney opted to join his hometown Carolina Panthers instead, seeing it as a chance to revitalize the team’s competitiveness.
Having achieved his career-best 9.5 sacks last season and showing an increased pressure rate, Clowney received a lucrative multi-year offer from Carolina, which the Ravens were unwilling to match as they sought depth in other areas.
Expressing his desire to return to Carolina for a while, Clowney emphasized his readiness to handle the responsibilities of playing close to home. Despite his brief stint with the Ravens, Clowney exceeded expectations, bidding farewell to Ravens fans through an Instagram post.
He expressed gratitude to the Ravens community, describing his former teammates as lifelong brothers and reflecting on his time in Baltimore as a blessing, leaving behind a legacy of goodwill despite his short tenure.
