For ten of his eleven NFL seasons, Terry McDaniel was a member of the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders. In the first round of the 1988 NFL Draft, McDaniel was selected by the Raiders with the ninth overall choice. At Tennessee, where he played collegiate football, he was named All-SEC in 1987. At Tennessee, McDaniel participated in track and established records in the 300-meter and 300-yard sprints for his school.

It wasn’t until 1985 that McDaniel moved from wide receiver to cornerback after arriving in Tennessee. Despite having 57 tackles, two interceptions, and eight pass breakups in his final season, McDaniel was named to the All-SEC and second team All-American teams. During his tenure at Tennessee, he recorded six interceptions and 11 pass breakups.

Despite suffering a setback from a leg injury during his debut season with the Raiders, McDaniel’s perseverance was evident. In his comeback season, he made three interceptions, made one sack, and earned a starting spot. In 1992, he was selected for the first of five consecutive Pro Bowls, further demonstrating his brilliance and tenacity. His career’s high point occurred in 1994 when he picked off Drew Bledsoe three times and returned two interceptions for touchdowns against the New England Patriots.
