Injured Infielder Vaughn Grissom Back By the End of the Month

The Boston Red Sox, who acquired second baseman Vaughn Grissom in an offseason trade with the Atlanta Braves that sent Chris Sale to the NL East, have won five of their first seven games in the 2024 MLB season.

But, manager Alex Cora revealed that they’re still targeting late April for his comeback, so they might be getting him back soon.

Earlier this week, Cora stated, “Yeah, that’s where we’re at right now” (translated by MassLive). “He’s still hitting and taking grounders.”

Grissom hasn’t played a meaningful game with his new team since he had a hamstring ailment during spring training.

The Red Sox have started Pablo Reyes (1-for-3 with one RBI) and Enmanuel Valdez (4-for-20 with one home run and three RBIs) in his place.

Grissom’s spring training workload and the timing of his minor league rehab assignment before his Boston debut are currently unknown.

Between 2022 and 2023, Grissom played 64 games in all for the Braves, hitting.287 with a.746 OPS, five home runs, 27 RBIs, and five stolen bases.
