The Boston Bruins started the game sluggishly and couldn’t recover, resulting in a 4-1 defeat against the Carolina Hurricanes at TD Garden on Tuesday night.
Here’s the recap of the Boston Hockey Now Bruins Postgame:
STANDOUT: Andrei Svechnikov, known for being the first NHL player to score a ‘Michigan’ goal in 2019, replicated this feat for the third time. Svechnikov executed the unique move, originally popularized by former University of Michigan forward Mike Legg in the 1996 NCAA Hockey Tournament, slipping the puck past Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman to put his team ahead 1-0 at 10:55 into the second period. Svechnikov also assisted on Teuvo Teravainen’s goal just 2:10 later, contributing four shots and two hits in 15:06 time on ice.
DISAPPOINTMENT: The Bruins seemed overconfident, possibly due to recent success, neglecting the fact that the Carolina Hurricanes had defeated them in eight consecutive games before their victory last Thursday. Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk acknowledged this oversight, highlighting the Hurricanes’ consistency and growth, emphasizing the challenge they present to opposing teams. The Hurricanes dominated the second period, outshooting the Bruins 9-1 in the first 10 minutes and 15-6 overall, scoring two goals in 2:10 with Svechnikov’s ‘Michigan Goal’ at 10:55 and Teravainen’s goal at 13:05.
POSITIVE NOTE: Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Peeke stood out with eight hits, while Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis made significant contributions, scoring a goal and providing an assist, ultimately sealing the game with a shorthanded goal at 13:22 into the third period.
