Two Calls Infuriated The Roosters. Three That Harmed Melbourne Are Being Examined By The NRL.

In his team’s close loss on Thursday night, Roosters coach Trent Robinson was not pleased with two controversial Storm tries. The NRL investigated three calls on Friday that might have caused Melbourne’s problems.

James Tedesco, who was fined $750 for dangerous conduct, was the subject of an official investigation following two Roosters knock-ons in the last ten minutes of play at Allianz Stadium and a third incident in which Tedesco tripped Ryan Papenhuyzen. Andrew Johns questioned, “Why isn’t that a sin bin?” during Tedesco’s trip.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity because the evaluations had not yet been completed, NRL sources stated that the governing body was awaiting other camera angles following what seemed to be a knock-on by Michael Jennings prior to a late-second-half try by Joey Manu.

With less than five minutes left, prop Lindsay Collins appeared to knock-on from a brief kick-off, giving the Roosters an attacking set. The Storm managed to hang on and win 18–12.

Melbourne was unable to contest the Collins call since they had lost their captain’s challenge, and the bunker could only step in if there had been a chance for points to be scored.

Robinson expressed his frustration with the decision to give Eli Katoa a try in the 32nd minute both in the coach’s box and at the news conference held after the game.
