
Sam Burgess has pledged to stay true to his contract with Warrington Wolves, despite increasing rumors that the South Sydney Rabbitohs are interested in signing their club star. As a first-grade head coach, Burgess has had a great start to his career, as Warrington has won eight of their first ten games under his leadership.
There has been talk in Australia that the Bunnies may go to Burgess in an effort to turn things around, as pressure on current coach Jason Demetriou grows. Pressure has increased since Souths have only triumphed once in their first six games of the season.
Burgess, however, is adamant that he won’t leave Warrington until his current deal expires at the end of 2025. The England great plans to return The Wire for giving him the chance to launch his coaching career.
Burgess informed Sky Sports that he may make the move back when questioned. “Not at all. This is a two-year contract, which I will honor. Everyone at the club, including Simon, has been excellent. Especially now that the sun is out, I’m quite delighted. We are having a great time and won’t be leaving anytime soon.
The Wire are tied with Wigan Warriors and St Helens after their thrilling victory against Leigh Leopards. They are also in the Challenge Cup semi-final, where they will play Huddersfield Giants for the opportunity to play at Wembley.
