BREAKING NEWS :In Their Postseason Rematch, NBA Finals Contenders Adopt A Different Tone.

The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers had a tense relationship over the previous summer. That was how it seemed, anyway.

It was unexpected given that LeBron James had a brief coaching stint under late father Brendan during his sophomore year, Michael Malone, the head coach of the Nuggets. In fact, from 2005–06 until 2009–10, Malone served as the Cleveland Cavaliers’ assistant coach. But after their hard-fought Western Conference Finals encounter ended with LeBron’s Lakers losing in a sweep, he had a lot to say about the four-time MVP.

Lakers and Nuggets Playoff Rematch with a Different Tone

Certain remarks, such as Malone being referred to as the “Lakers Daddy” during their championship parade, appeared to be nothing more than boastful remarks. It should be mentioned that Malone did not coin the nickname, but he did not voice any complaints either. However, during the championship parade, Malone made fun of James by making fun of the news that the 38-year-old was considering retirement.

James was so offended by the joke that he responded on Instagram with a remark that read, in part, “Wave the flag on these lames!!” The lame machine is at an all-time high, so please make being a player cool again.”

These are harmless incidents in and of themselves.

It also seemed a little bit envious, given that Malone was upset about the attention the Lakers receive in the media. That’s how the game against James and the Lakers got so intense in the first place.
