BREAKING NEWS:Potential Steelers CB Target Expected To Be Picked In Top 50

A Top 50 selection is anticipated for the prospective Steelers CB target.

Since Mike Hilton left the Pittsburgh Steelers to play for Cincinnati after the 2020 season, the team has not successfully filled the slot cornerback position. Michigan cornerback Mike Sainristil is a Hilton clone in this year’s draft, but NBC Sports’ Connor Rogers doesn’t think he will be available for very long. He believes he will be selected in the top 50, which might put the Steelers in a precarious situation.

The former wide receiver, who is small at 5-foot-9 and 182 pounds, has ball skills that have the ability to affect the game at any time, according to Rogers. Sainristil’s status as a slot corner at the next level is practically a given given how frequently teams use at least three cornerbacks. Seeing him fall outside of the top 50 is difficult.

Sainristil weighs barely 182 pounds and is only 5 feet 10 inches tall. It was never going to be possible to be like Jordan. He did, however, aim to emulate another Mike: former cornerback Mike Hilton of the Steelers.

At 5-foot-9 and 178 pounds, Hilton was even smaller than Sainristil when he went through the draft process in 2016 and was not taken. Nevertheless, he managed to use his bulk to his advantage, making a significant contribution to the Pittsburgh defense over his four seasons in black and gold.

The Steelers haven’t really been able to duplicate Hilton’s output in that capacity as a deteriorating slot cornerback since he left for free agency in 2021.
