This free agency, the Las Vegas Raiders at last acquired a crucial acquisition on the offensive line.
Guard Cody Whitehair, an accomplished lineman, was recently signed by the Silver and Black, providing the Raiders with some much-needed depth at guard.
Whitehair inked a contract with Las Vegas on Monday, the same day the team started its optional offseason exercises, so the timing of the move paid off.
Raiders center Andre James told the media on Monday, “We got Cody Whitehair in here today.” “I met this awesome man today. Indeed, it is pleasant to have a veterinarian with such much knowledge visit us. It will only marginally help the offensive line room as a whole.”
Whitehair will be reunited with Luke Getsy, his former offensive coordinator, after spending eight seasons with the Chicago Bears. Throughout 124 games with Chicago, he made 118 starts.
It’s going to be fantastic, James exclaimed. “I was just discussing some of the schemes and things that they ran [in Chicago] with him [Whitehair] today. Especially in the offensive line room, it’s always beneficial to have someone who is knowledgeable with the offense, scheme, and system to kind of pick his brain and sort of get some of the keys and some of the information that he’s gained from working with the Bears for a long time. I’m therefore ecstatic to have him.”
James essentially summed up Whitehair’s main contributions, which are his expertise and familiarity with the new offense.
