Teams are getting ready to welcome their 2024 rookie classes as the 2024 NFL Draft approaches in less than a week.
The Baltimore Ravens selected a high-upside defense in the first round of a recent three-round mock draft.
According to John Harbaugh, “Chop Robinson is an athletic freak who many believe he has one of the highest ceilings of any edge rusher in this year’s class. The Ravens have been known to put players in positions to utilize their full skill sets, which will be a major need for Robinson, who needs some polishing as a pass rusher before he can come anywhere close to the ceiling people envision for him.”
One interesting candidate in this year’s class is Chop Robinson. On film, his agility and speed are evident, but it’s also evident that he presently depends only on them. If he can refine his repertoire of pass-rush techniques and learn to win reps in many ways, he might have a particular ceiling at the professional level. Since NFL-caliber tackles won’t allow you to continuously apply the speed rush on them during the game. The Ravens, in my opinion, would be the ideal place for Robinson to improve as a pass rusher. And who knows? If he can play to his potential, he could rank among this class’s best defenders.
The Ravens will probably seriously consider selecting a tackle in the first round, but if they hold off until day two, I believe Yale’s Kiran Amegadjie will be a good choice. Amedgadjie has enough skill to be a marginal first-round pick in prior draft classes, but the fact that he falls here is a true reflection of the quality of this year’s offensive tackle class. Over the last three seasons, he has only given up one sack and five QB hits. Who knows how high he would be picked next week if he hadn’t been hurt last year?
The Ravens let starting WR Odell Beckham Jr. hit free agency and now could really use a starter on the outside. The value wasn’t there in the first two rounds. But USC’s Brenden Rice is a solid option in the third. Rice is the son of Hall of Famer and the consensus greatest WR of all time Jerry Rice. And while Rice (Brenden) doesn’t have the talent of his dad his skill set still projects him as a potential NFL starting outside WR. He has the size and ability to compete for the Raven’s X WR role, and if Flowers lines up in the slot, Rice can slide into the Z role as well.
