Bulldogs pile on points in revenge thriller over Knights

The Bulldogs began the second half much like they did the first, as rookie forward Bailey Hayward capitalized on Ponga’s hesitation, diving around the fullback and scoring to extend their lead to 24-6.

The Knights’ fortunes worsened when Ponga exited the field due to a foot injury, prompting Tyson Gamble to take over at fullback and Phoenix Crossland to step in at five-eighth.

Star winger Josh Addo-Carr joined the scoring in the 59th minute, finishing off a slick left-side attack with an impressive aerial finish in the corner.

With a commanding 30-6 lead, the Bulldogs continued their dominance, and captain Stephen Crichton sealed the victory with a remarkable long-range effort, extending the lead to 36-6.

Tensions flared towards the end of the match, resulting in sin bins for Jack Hetherington and Reed Mahoney with less than four minutes remaining. Despite this, Knights’ player Best managed to score a consolation try just before full time.
