Phillies’ pitching staff aims to keep rolling vs. Reds. The plan is that…

The Philadelphia Phillies have started the season strong, winning 15 of their first 23 games, a feat achieved only three times since 1995. Their success can largely be attributed to their starting pitching.

On Tuesday, left-hander Cristopher Sanchez will take the mound against the Cincinnati Reds, hoping to build on the Phillies’ recent dominance on the mound. In Monday’s series opener, Ranger Suarez led the Phillies to a 7-0 victory by pitching seven scoreless innings, extending his streak of not allowing runs to 25 innings.

Philadelphia’s starting pitchers have been outstanding, allowing just four earned runs in their last 51 2/3 innings pitched over seven games, with an impressive 53 strikeouts and only nine walks.

Sanchez (1-2, 2.95 ERA) aims to continue this trend after a solid performance against the Colorado Rockies, where he struck out 10 batters over six innings, securing a 7-6 win.

Facing Sanchez will be Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott (1-2, 2.70 ERA), who is making his fifth start of the season. Abbott previously faced the Phillies on April 1, giving up two runs over 5 1/3 innings.

The Reds are monitoring the health of second baseman Jonathan India and outfielder Jake Fraley, both sidelined due to illness.

In the absence of Bryce Harper, who is on the paternity list, Kody Clemens made a significant impact in Monday’s game with a three-run homer. The Phillies anticipate Harper’s return for the series finale on Thursday.

Despite missing key players, the Phillies boast a strong lineup, highlighted by Trea Turner’s 11-game hitting streak and Alec Bohm’s recent hot streak, batting .455 over his last six games.
