UNBELIEVABLE: Bills’ Damar Hamlin Gets Honest About Major Award Snub

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin’s remarkable return to the football field in 2023 was a story that resonated with many, following his cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in December 2022. The incident brought into sharp focus the priority of Hamlin’s health over football.

Against all odds, Hamlin not only survived but made a stunning comeback to the gridiron in the subsequent season, defying expectations that he might never play again. He managed to participate in five games in 2023, recording a couple of tackles.

Despite his inspiring return, Hamlin did not receive the Comeback Player of the Year award, which went to Joe Flacco instead. Reflecting on this during a recent appearance, Hamlin admitted he initially felt he deserved the award as a competitor, but ultimately respected Flacco’s achievement with the Cleveland Browns.

Hamlin, a former University of Pittsburgh standout, was drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. His role expanded significantly in 2022, where he played 15 games and made a notable impact with 91 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble before his season was cut short due to injury.

Looking ahead to 2024, the focus remains on Hamlin’s health and his potential contribution to the Bills on the field. His resilience and determination serve as an inspiration to many in the football community.
