With the Wests Tigers emerging as front-runners to sign star winger Sunia Turuva_who is reportedly close to making an announcement about his future—and Penrith being unable to compete with the offers on the market, the Penrith Panthers may be adding to their list of player losses at the end of the season.
The Panthers are unable to raise their proposed offer of $350,000 per year for the Fijian international, even though the club’s salary cap capacity would grow with the departures of Jahrome Luai and James Fisher-Harris.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Turuva, 21, has received an offer from the Tigers to sign a multi-year contract for $450,000 per season. If accepted, he would join the team the next season with current teammate Luai.
Since Api Koroisau, the captain of the Wests Tigers and a former Panther, is Turuva’s first cousin, he has a close relationship with the 2025 Tigers.
Turuva has received interest from the Dragons, who are offering a contract worth between $400,000 and $600,000 a season along with positional bonuses.
If Turuva contracts with the Dragons and agrees to start at fullback for the squad, he may make up to $600,000.
