Sydney teammate Angus Crichton is “definitely” prepared for a return to State of Origin, according to Roosters captain James Tedesco, after his “outstanding” performance against the Broncos on Friday night in Brisbane.
Crichton, who has played for New South Wales eleven times, maintained his “purple patch” in the 40-18 triumph at Suncorp Stadium with a sophisticated double.
The 28-year-old, whose contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season, was a player for the Rabbitohs under new coach Michael Maguire. Tedesco praised the second-rower following Friday’s victory.
During the press conference following the game, Tedesco responded to questions regarding Crichton’s prospects for Origin by saying, “Definitely, the way he’s been playing.”
“He’s undoubtedly been one of our best back row players, but I haven’t been watching many other back rowers.”
Crichton didn’t come off the bench in Round 3 of the 2024 season; he started the whole thing. A few weeks later, in Round 6, he recorded 187 run metres in a two-point victory over the Knights, and ever since, his play has been at an all-time high.
