BREAKING NEWS:NSWRL Charges Three Female Spectators For Using Racist Taunts During A Group 6 match.

The New South Wales Rugby League has accused three female spectators of using derogatory and racist taunts during last weekend’s first grade game in the Campbelltown neighborhood southwest of Sydney.

The accusations resulted from grievances filed with the NSWRL after the Country Rugby League’s Group 6 match was streamed live.

Following their victory at Thirlmere Sports Ground, Campbelltown Collegians players were subjected to abuse by spectators, as evidenced by audio included in the clip posted on YouTube.

A woman in the audience reportedly yelled, “get back on your boat” at a Polynesian-American Collegians player among the profanities.

An NSWRL investigation was launched as a result of the video becoming viral and receiving over 250,000 views.

Following a Macarthur Premiership game between Thirlmere Roosters and Campbelltown Collegians on Sunday, April 28, the NSWRL has charged three female spectators with several code of conduct violations,” a statement stated.

“Using vulgar or abusive language and acting in a way that goes against the spirit of the game are among the offenses. It has also been alleged that one of the onlookers displayed racial bigotry.

Both teams have contributed to the NSWRL’s study. Any kind of vilification is not tolerated by the NSWRL or the participating clubs.

“No further comment will be made until the matter is complete.”
