Imagine winning a Super Bowl with one team, leaving that team, and the new team winning the Super Bowl without you while you are at home in February for the last four years, despite the fact that the team you are currently on is far superior to the one you were previously on.
Let me remind you that the team the guy is currently with has had no genuine success compared to the Chiefs – not even close. That’s essentially what the 49ers’ current cornerback, Charvarius Ward, said while playing for the Chiefs from 2018-2021. He has been with the Niners for two years. He stated that prior to the Super Bowl, when both teams were performing huge amounts of media work to do.
“It is better over here. “It’s better over here in every way,” Ward told reporters. In a stunning change of events, Ward has modified his position, making another bold remark, this time one that Chiefs fans will undoubtedly enjoy.
“I think we’re the best team in the NFL outside of the Super Bowl champions,” Ward said on the Up and Adams show. “I don’t think anybody really is messing with us right now. I feel like we clearly have the most talent in the league. It’s just that we’re going up against Michael Jordan of the NFL, who is Patrick Mahomes. That’s a really tough matchup. I don’t think anybody can beat us outside of Patrick Mahomes when he brings his A game, like he did in the Super Bowl.”
It’s a bold move to liken Mahomes to Michael Jordan, but the similarities are striking. Beyond the Super Bowl defeat, a rare misstep in Mahomes’ otherwise impeccable career, the comparisons stand. Mahomes, like Jordan, has prevented many exceptional players and quarterbacks from triumphing. Consider all the outstanding QBs who are yet to clinch a Super Bowl due to their clashes with Mahomes.
The Chiefs have themselves one of the greatest players of all time. And, soon, we could be saying the greatest football player of all time. Mahomes still has a ways to go, but if he continues to make other great teams and players miss their window on Super Bowls, there will be an undeniable sense that he is G.O.A.T. worthy. His exceptional performance has been a key factor in the Chiefs’ success, and if this trend continues, his status as the greatest of all time will be hard to dispute.
