Steve Cohen gains popularity due to a regrettable series of internet posts

This week, Steve Cohen gave a masterclass in accidental humour. Owner of the New York Mets Cohen expressed his excitement for the team’s impending 10-game homestand in a post on X on Friday. Cohen wrote, “Looking forward to our 10-game homestand starting tonight.” “Let’s Go Mets (LGM)” Tomorrow is the first day of our new artist series giveaway experiment. Savour the totebag designed by Joel Mesler.

Thank you for your feedback. Sadly for Cohen, though, his enthusiasm was soon replaced with dismay as the Mets ultimately suffered a truly appalling defeat that evening. The squad lost to the San Francisco Giants 8-7 after blowing a 6-2 lead with two outs in the eighth inning.

“What a stretch, mind boggling,” Cohen wrote in a post after the game. “I know how disheartening this is for our fans. Ty for caring so much.”

The set of back-to-back posts by Cohen quickly created a hilariously sad visual that went viral online.

That definitely sums up the New York Mets experience this season pretty well. They are now 21-29 on the year and continued their struggles during the next day’s game against the Giants, too.

As for Cohen, it could always be worse. At least he didn’t leak his team’s trade deadline plans to X like he did the last time.
