Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes has a play at OTAs that continues, leaving supporters with one huge question

The Kansas City Chiefs, headed by their imaginative star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, have wowed fans with their distinctive playing styles. While Mahomes was not the first to use the no-look pass, he has undoubtedly elevated it to the forefront, making it a defining move of his. One of Mahomes’ most fascinating manoeuvres is the behind-the-back pass.

While it has yet to appear in a game, it is a move that has become common in practice, OTAs, and training camp. 2018 leaves every fan with a nagging question: Could 2018 be the year we see this uncommon feat in a game?

Well, the yearly tradition of seeing the clip in practice just for us to ask that question has happened once again, this time for 2024. This time, the Kansas City Chiefs’ official Twitter account was the one teasing it.

They posted a video that showed Mahomes throwing a no-look behind-the-back pass to Carson Steele, an undrafted free-agent running back.

When this momentous event occurs, it will mark the first time in the game’s history that a behind-the-back pass has been executed in a live match. If we are going to see it this year, my guess is it will be in a preseason game.
We have seen the Chiefs do things that other teams don’t do, like the snowglobe play against the Las Vegas Raiders. So, if any team or player will do it, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
